Physalia: Mad MMX opening title sequence

Physalia is a motion-graphics and visual effects studio based in Barcelona. Since the beginning they have carried research in many fields, such as photography, 3D & 2D animation, stop-motion, electronics, mixed media, liveaction... that is, in many areas that don't necessarily require sitting in front of the computer! Their love for electronics impels them to develop tools to shoot things that would be impossible to achieve otherwise. This mix of self-made tools and motion graphics is the inspiration for some of their projects.

The featured work below is for a yearly Design / Animation event called MAD which takes place in Madrid and features works from all over the globe. Physalia used 3D scanner technology to create the beautifully textured look for the MAD MMX opening title sequence. They got inspiration from Kyle McDonald's DIY 3D scanner without the imposition of a storyboard or animatic, which inspired them to create a truly lo-fi piece. Please check out Kyle McDonald's vimeo page for further inspiration.. The ideas he comes up with are mind blowing!
